Care guide
Caring for your ZLVR pieces
Each piece is handcrafted with care, using only high quality materials and made to be worn daily. With a little care, your jewellery will stay with you for years and naturally develop its own character over time.
Wear with intention
Your jewellery is designed for everyday wear β sterling silver is durable and water safe. That said, certain environments can affect both the finish and the longevity of your piece.
Its best to avoid wearing your jewellery during activities like going to the gym, heavy lifting or anything where it may knock against hard surfaces. This helps prevent scratches, dents, or unnecessary wear, and is also safer for you. Harsh environments can affect the finish over time.
Try to avoid direct contact with strong chemicals like cleaning products, chlorine, or perfumes.
Keep it clean
A quick wipe with a soft cloth helps remove oils from daily wear.
For a deeper clean, use warm water with a small amount of mild soap and a soft toothbrush. Rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth. Once dry, use a polishing cloth to restore to its original shine.
Store mindfully
When not being worn, store your jewellery in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or box. Keeping pieces separate will help prevent scratches and preserve their finish.
Natural wear & Patina
Sterling silver can develop a natural patina over time. It tends to oxidize and darken when not worn. Brass develops a warm, antique-like patina. You can either embrace these changes, or restore the original shine by cleaning your pieces as described above.
A note on materials
Where possible, I aim to work with natural, untreated stones and avoid dyed or heavily altered materials. Regardless, I always recommend treating your jewellery with care. Natural stones and sea glass can vary in colour, pattern, and texture, which is part of what makes each piece unique. These materials can also be more sensitive to impact, chemicals, and scratching, so itβs best to handle them with a bit of extra care to keep them looking their best.
